In the middle of June 2021, Carlos Castro and I (Roger Garcia) got together in one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico (Can Cun).

At the edge of the beach, we talked about how important Andres Mijangos is to the Latin house culture, and how important he has been in recent years in the Afro, Afro-Latin, Soulful & House genre.

Thinking about all this, we got the idea of ​​paying homage to the biggest house music producer we have in Mexico, Andres Mijangos (EL JEFE OF THE DRUMS).

We talked about 1000 and one ideas, what we had to highlight in this track, and after going around and around we decided that the best thing was to sample one of his best hits and tell the story of the person we saw as "EL JEFE OF THE DRUMS ".

The idea was very concrete, after working with the groove in Carlos's studio, I arrived with the very fresh and concrete idea at my studio in León, Guanajuato. Mexico and I started working on the musical idea, the drums, the sounds, how mystical the track had to be,

Speaking of mysticity, Carlos got to work with the text and how important the narrative of the story we wanted to tell had to be.

In a matter of hours, we had a wonderful story and an extraordinary piece of music, so we decided to speak to Luis Oleg, a famous radio host in Mexico to whom we talked about the project and he was very happy to work with us on this issue with his wonderful voice.

We had almost everything ready, so we sent it to Peppe Citarella C.O. From Union Records, he heard it and immediately called me on the phone letting me know that he wanted to be part of the project, since as we all know, Peppe is an important piece in the life of Andres Mijangos.

Peppe asked us to send the project and a few months later that project came back, but now as a whole work of art, Peppe added all his touch and his talent with live musicians and an extraordinary groove.

Now we only had to give the final touch to the track, the project would go to Italy and return to Mexico after weeks until the 3 of us (Peppe, Carlos and I) agreed on the sound.

Now we needed to do the art and who better than Axel Mijangos (a very talented Mexican designer, producer, tattoo artist and son of "El Jefe") who we asked to do the cover for this wonderful track. He immediately accepted and joined the project with this cover that illustrates what Andrés Mijangos (THE CHIEF OF THE DRUMS) is.

Having everything ready now, the only thing left to do was make the decision on the release date, November was approaching and what better than November 22, 2021. Special day for "The Boss", which is his 60th birthday.
